Caitlyn Jenner is said to be ‘numb with shock’ following the death of Sophia Hutchins, her longtime friend and manager, at the age of 29.

Hutchins died in an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) accident on Wednesday morning in Malibu, near Caitlyn’s home, TMZ first reported, citing law enforcement and family sources.

The I Am Cait star was riding an ATV when she struck the bumper of a moving car, causing her to leave the road and fall into a ‘350 feet ravine’, US outlets reported.

Hutchins was pronounced dead at the scene, while two people in the car were not injured. It is unknown whether anyone else was injured in the collision.

While Caitlyn is yet to comment on the fatal crash, a source has now told RadarOnline.com: ‘Caitlyn is numb with shock.

‘She is absolutely devastated and can’t believe what’s happened. Sophia was a big part of her life.’

Since they met in 2015 through their hairstylist when Caitlyn announced her transition, Hutchins has been by the former Olympian’s side, including when she came out of the I’m A Celebrity…. Get Me Out Of Here jungle in 2020.

Hutchins, who was the CEO of a now-defunct beauty brand, was just starting her own transition at the time they met and was thought to have been inspired by Caitlyn.

She was hired as the star’s business manager, but their bond was deeper than that.

Hutchins went on to appear in multiple episodes of her E! reality series I Am Cait and became friends with the Jenner clan, having attended Kylie Jenner’s 18th birthday party in 2018. She’s also appeared on Keeping Up With The Kardashians on multiple occasions.

Caitlyn later made Hutchins CEO and director of the Caitlyn Jenner Foundation, a non-profit organisation that ‘promotes equality and combats discrimination’ against transgender people.

‘We have so much in common; we see the world so similarly, and we both are such a good match for each other because we challenge each other,’ Hutchins once said of their relationship in an interview with The Hidden Truth with Jim Breslo.

‘She challenges me in so many ways, has allowed me to grow in so many ways, and I hope I challenge her to grow, and I think because we share so many of the same passions and views, it’s just a great match, a great partnership.’

Born on April 1, 1996, in Washington, Hutchins graduated from Pepperdine University in 2019 with an economics and finance degree.

It was incorrectly rumoured that Hutchins and Caitlyn were romantically linked, but both went on to reveal that was never the case.

Speaking with podcast The Hidden Truth in October 2018, Hutchins opened up about her relationship with Caitlyn.

‘We’re partners in everything we do, we’re inseparable, we’re business partners, we live together, we share a dog, we share family, we share a life together,’ she said.

Caitlyn previously praised Hutchins as her ‘best friend, family, and confidant’, adding: ‘She is one of the top minds in her field. Her value in my life is undeniable. The sky is the limit with her entrepreneurial spirit.’
